The Estate of John Henry Hill, Unionville, PA
Two-Day Unreserved Auction of The Estate of John Henry Hill of Unionville, PA
July 8th & 9th, 1994
Born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland, John graduated from Townson State University with a degree in history. In 1967, he enrolled in and completed the Winterthur program in early American culture.
A gifted photographer, John was chosen to record the plates for the 1968 Baltimore Museum of Art's Queen Anne and Chippendale furniture exhibit catalogue.
After brief employment on the Winterthur museum staff, he embarked on what was to consume the remainder of his life, the conservation of painted and decorated surfaces. This restoration work may be seen at major American museums and many of today's foremost private collections.
