Chinese carved rosewood pier table
Chinese carved rosewood pier table, ca. 1840, with a marble inset top and an elaborately carved apron and legs, atop a serpentine base, 32" h., 60 3/4" w. A nearly identical example, though smaller in size, is illustrated in Crossman, Carl,The China Trade, pl. 144. Another related table was sold at Cowan's Auction, February 5, 2011, lot 182.
Depth - 25 1/2". Overall excellent untouched condition. Two age cracks to base. Provenance: The Collection of Captain Hall Jackson Tibbits (1797-1872), Long Island, NY.
