Jacob Botz (Lancaster, Pennsylvania, active 1775-1790), a superb ink, watercolor, and scherenschnitte fraktur, the central script surrounded by eight hearts with script and highly intricate cutwork of flowers and birds, 12" x 15". A similar work by Botz is in the collection of the Free Library of Philadelphia and listed under"Masterpieces". The present example remains in near pristine condition with exceptional color and only a few small losses to the cutwork. Provenance: descended in the family to the present owner.
