Oliver Ellsworth Revolutionary War-Dated Pay Document signed, inscribed Pay David Carter three pounds for repairing arms & charge the state, Hartford June 5th, 1778, Jno Lawrence, 7 1/4" x 4 1/2". Oliver Ellsworth (1745-1807) was selected as a Connecticut delegate to the Continental Congress in 1777 and rose to Chief Justice of the Supreme Court in 1796 and served until 1800.
